Waterproofing for Rolex Building in Dallas
TEXO, The Construction Association honored Chamberlin Roofing & Waterproofing with a Merit award in their 2018 Distinguished Building Awards competition for their roofing and waterproofing installation on the new Rolex building in downtown Dallas. The Distinguished Building Awards embody the skill, commitment and passion that TEXO members have for construction. This award qualifies Chamberlin for ABC’s National Excellence in Construction Awards competition.
The new eight-story Rolex Building serves as additional office space for the Swiss watchmaker. Hot asphalt fluid-applied waterproofing was utilized for the landscaping, cascading water feature and elevated decks. Cold-applied waterproofing was installed on exterior terraces, planters and the garden roof.
In the parking garage, Chamberlin installed post-applied and pre-applied sheet waterproofing, a traffic-rated polyurethane methacrylate (PUMA) coating and an under-tile rated PUMA coating. The waterproofing scope also included air barrier and joint sealants.
Additionally, Chamberlin installed a hot modified roofing system, a PVC membrane roofing system, wood blocking, flashings and sheet metal.
Several atypical conditions were discovered during construction, one of which no one on the project team had encountered before. Chamberlin worked with the team creating new intricate details and helping identify alternate products to meet the challenges.
The PUMA waterproofing systems can be complicated to install, and Chamberlin crews mastered the specific composition and application of each of the four layers. They worked meticulously to deliver high-quality installations of all of the products and were recognized for such by manufacturers and the general contractor. Chamberlin’s scopes were all completed safely and on time, some even ahead of schedule. Read more about the project here.
