Where it All Started:
Sergio started his career out as a bartender and was a bartender for about eighteen years before he decided that he wanted to pursue something different. He then got a job with a friend doing waterproofing out in the field and enjoyed learning everything he did about waterproofing at that time and did this for five years. He didn’t agree with the structure of that company as time went on, which then led Sergio to Chamberlin, where he started out as a Foreman, which was followed by becoming a Superintendent and then of course the role he is in now as a Field Operations Manager.

A Day in the Life:
Sergio’s day typically starts with coffee and a self-reflection of the day prior before he does anything else. After this, Sergio then calls his team to ensure they are on the right track for the day. These phone calls help him and his teamwork through any potential problems and gives the team an opportunity at the beginning of the day to ask him any questions they may have. Sergio also spends his day interacting with our clients, working through various proposals and bids with the estimators as well.

Outlook:
In Sergio’s opinion, in order to provide the best customer service, is to ensure safety is kept in first place as our top priority throughout the day. If safety is kept first, we will be able to prevent unforeseen issues, we will be able to provide quality to prevent any delays in our projects. With these key pieces as a team, we will be able to provide the best customer service there is. The project starts out as estimating and as that original step moves to actually executing the work we have to work together as team and there cannot be any gaps. It is important that we are consistent and fluid from start to finish in the entirety of the process.

Notable Projects:
Sergio has several notable projects he could make mention of, but here are just a few:

a. Austin FC Stadium in our Austin market

b. Marriot Resort in our San Antonio market

c. Conrac at the Airport in our Austin market

d. Driskell Balcony Restoration in our Austin market

Greatest Personal Accomplishment:
Sergio’s greatest person accomplishment has to be his four children and being their father.

Life Without Chamberlin:
If Sergio wasn’t working at Chamberlin, he would most likely pursue a teaching job, as a Kindergarten teacher. Sergio loves children and enjoy leaving an impact on them through teaching them.
