Lyle Coston, Chamberlin Vice President

Where it All Started

It all started for Lyle when Dave Peterson, a recruiter, called and set up a meeting with Art Canales and John Kafka, for Lyle to meet them for dinner in Brenham, Texas. At the time, Lyle was working for a smaller waterproofing company called Southwest Sealant where his father was the Field Operations Manager, who hired Lyle one summer during his first year of college where he worked in the field for 2 years, then started in the office as an estimator. Lyle was skeptical at first about moving to the big city of Houston but have loved it ever since because of the friendships that he has built at Chamberlin and with clients.

A Day in the Life:

Lyle has an open-door policy and enjoys developing and helping people. Never did he think that he was going to be a general manager, but now that he is, his main focus is to always help where he can. Lyle enjoys engaging with clients and industry associations because the construction industry is a small world when you get to work with many of the same folks over and over again through strong relationships.

Outlook:

Lyle’s outlook on customer service, safety, quality and teamwork, is that safety is first and takes priority above all other. The quality of our work is important which starts in the field, but also carries throughout estimates and project management abilities. We have taken an enhanced approach to QA/QC which has helped develop our own reputation of quality results from our customers. Teamwork was an added replacement to production of our three-legged stool and at Chamberlin we have a great team that works together with great communication. These three facets of Chamberlin are what really helps Chamberlin deliver more customer service leading to repeat business.

Notable Projects

Lyle has several notable projects he could make mention of, but here are just a few:

a. Exxon Mobil Campus Project, which is a New World Headquarters for Exxon Mobil in Woodlands, Texas, with three miles of tunnel waterproofing, Garage Graphics coating, done with a traffic coating system, along with pool quartz to represent a satellite image of the three safest worksites for Exxon.

b. MD Anderson Ambulatory Support Building & Cancer Prevention Building, which is one of the largest cancer treatment and prevention buildings in the nation that was built in the Houston Medical Center.

c. Houston House Apartments, which was a concrete restoration with a full slab replacement of balconies back to sound concrete. The scope includes a full balcony deck coating, handrail replacement, wetsealing, joint sealant replacement and concrete repairs including full depth, partial depth, slab edge and garage restoration.

Greatest Personal Accomplishment

One of Lyle’s greatest personal accomplishments was becoming an Eagle Scout, he has always been really proud of that. Another huge accomplishment for Lyle would be having three wonderful children with his beautiful wife Brenda.

Life Without Chamberlin

If Lye didn’t have Chamberlin in his life, he would become a fishing guide. He would be a guide in Alaska during the summertime and a guide in Costa Rica during the wintertime.
