June-National-Safety-Month

Although safety is important every month, June is National Safety Month! As we reflect on the 25th anniversary, preliminary data from the National Safety Council indicates that 42,060 people died in motor vehicles crashes in 2020, a year where people drove significantly less frequently because of the pandemic, which is an 8% rise from 2019. The increase in the rate of death is the highest estimated year-over-year jump that NSC has calculated since 1924 – 96 years!

It’s critical you prevent incidents before they start. Before you hit the road, identify potential risks and take proactive safety measures to reduce the possibility a collision may happen. And when you start your day, inspect your vehicle, fasten your seatbelt and be aware. And don’t forget to take every precaution to reduce:

  • Distracted driving
  • Drowsy driving
  • Speeding
  • Following too close

As the pandemic begins to subside and people venture out, more cars are on the road. Combine that with summer vacations and it’s more important than ever to be alert and drive safely.
