Associated General Contractors (AGC) of America has an Education and Research Foundation Scholarship program. Founded in 1968, the foundation has made good on its commitment to support the future of the construction industry through its robust scholarship program and innovative projects.

The scholarship program is made possible through endowments made by AGC members and supporters, as well as AGC Chapters, the Foundation is able to give 100 or more undergraduate and graduate scholarships each year to deserving students. Since 1970, AGC has awarded over 3,000 scholarships totaling over $8 million. Scholarship candidates are evaluated for their academic success, their commitment to the industry through participation in campus professional organizations, summer or part-time work in the construction industry and their goals for the future.

Chamberlin's very own Ivan Lopez, in the Houston waterproofing department, was awarded an AGC Scholarship Award. Ivan attends Lone Star College and is extremely appreciative of this honor.

"I am the son of immigrants, and a good work ethic has always been a part of my upbringing. I want to go to school and be able to focus without worrying about money. Getting this scholarship also means that I won't be a financial burden for my family." -Ivan Lopez
