Mike Heaton

Project Estimator - Roofing & Sheet Metal - Dallas, TX

"Mike is one of the most knowledgeable, capable, and detail oriented professionals in the roofing industry,” said Chamberlin Vice President David Neal, and he adds, “we are extremely pleased to have him as part of our team."

He’s also a pretty fun guy! Here is a little more about the ins and outs of Mike Heaton.

Mike began in the oil supply business but was easily converted to the roofing industry through a friend’s suggestion many years ago. It was a smooth transition, as Mike had always had a passion for construction and seeing things built. He was a natural at selling roofing products, his first position, and seamlessly progressed into project management. When he was hired on at Chamberlin as an estimator, he was a key component in expanding the roofing department in Dallas. The relationships he has built with clients and contractors are lasting and have lent to Chamberlin securing notable jobs, such as the Mercantile Lofts in downtown Dallas. This 32-story high rise with multiple level roofs had its challenges, but Chamberlin did a job so well done, the general contractor hired us again for the Love Field Modernization project with a contract over $4 million. Mike is now in his eleventh year with Chamberlin.

A Day in the Life:
You can usually find Mike in his office pouring over a blueprint, completing take offs and comprising estimates. That’s not to say he doesn’t get out, though. His job also takes him to meet with architects for design builds and clients and consultants for roof assessments. Also, he maintains his industry relationships through client lunches and association meetings.

At work and at home, Mike lives by a great rule of thumb - do what you say you are going to do. He identifies closely with the Chamberlin value “One Time,” and believes in doing work right the first time. Additionally, he believes every single customer is important, no matter how large or small the job is, and delivers the same stellar customer service to each client. He appreciates Chamberlin’s dedication to quality in every job and enjoys working with like-minded people committed to working together to reach excellency on every project.

Outside the Office:
Put Mike near the water and he is happy. From hanging out at the beach or on the lake to saltwater fishing, waterfront is where he likes to be. Mike also invests elbow grease into his son’s motorcycle, which he is helping him rebuild. This is not the first bike his son has rebuilt, but this one is particular challenging since the motorcycle is in Mike’s garage and his son is an engineering major at Colorado State. The long-distance team works together via email to finish the Honda 400T. Mike’s daughter is also in college, attending McNeese State, where she plays soccer.
