Employee Profile

Dave Edwards, Field Operations Manager, Austin, TX

Dave Edwards is a 23-year veteran of the waterproofing industry, spending 16 of those at Chamberlin. Over the years he has completed many large and notable waterproofing and caulking projects, but Dave’s proudest accomplishment is helping fellow employees learn and grow in their work and family lives. We asked Dave to share the history of his career with us along with some work ethic insights.

Experience:

Dave was 19-years old in 1982 when he began his career in the waterproofing and caulking business after moving to Houston from his family’s home in Michigan. His first company transferred him to Dallas to perform a three-year waterproofing project. Upon completion of that project, Dave met Mark Van Every and the Chamberlin Dallas team. “I remember that in 1986 when my oldest daughter was one-week old Mark Van Every hired me for his waterproofing and caulking team,” reminisces Dave. He was soon promoted to Superintendent.

Dave and his family became homesick and returned to their home in Michigan for a few years. While there he worked for a restoration contractor learning the art of historical restoration on cathedrals, hospitals, churches and court houses. “This added knowledge came in handy when I decided to return to Chamberlin and Texas in 1993,” Dave said. “Since then the Chamberlin team and I have successfully completed literally hundreds of various waterproofing projects including many for our Austin and San Antonio offices.”

A Day in the Life…

Dave recently began his new position as Field Operations Manager at Chamberlin Austin. He previously served as the Senior Superintendent for the Regency Condominiums restoration project in South Padre Island. Like most employees that work in the operational side of the business, Dave’s day begins before 5:00 a.m. Each day he pools together all of the necessary resources for daily projects and plans for the following week. He then inspects each project for safety, quality and productive work schedules.

Outlook:

“Customer satisfaction is the driving force behind any successful company,” states Dave. “Repeat customers are a large part of Chamberlin’s success and our 100+ years in business. Our customers come to expect our attention to safety, quality and productivity, and we do our best to deliver it each and every day. I know that’s why our customers come back to us time and time again to meet their waterproofing and caulking needs.”

Outside the Office…

“Spending time with my wife, Cindy, and two daughters has always been my favorite past time. After eight years of being a girls’ softball coach, my daughters moved on to other interests like dance teams. Since I am not much of a dancer, I now coach and play short stop in a slow-pitch league.” Dave also enjoys bowling (he once rolled a perfect 300 game), golfing, camping, fishing and water skiing with his family.
